Tradicija Viva at the Ethnographic Museum on May 7, marking 40 years of the radio show “Od zlata jabuka”

On the third evening of the traditional music concert series marking the 40th anniversary of Radio Belgrade 2’s program “Od zlata jabuka”, the ensemble Tradicija Viva from the Department of Ethnomusicology at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade will perform at the Ethnographic Museum (13 Studentski trg) in Belgrade on May 7, starting at 6 p.m. Admission is free, with mandatory prior registration.


Founded in 1998 at the Department of Ethnomusicology, Faculty of Music in Belgrade, Tradicija Viva is dedicated to the preservation and performance of Serbian traditional music. The ensemble consists of students under the artistic direction of Prof. Dr. Sanja Ranković and assistant Dr. Borisav Miljković. Since 2020, the ensemble has been performing under its current name and continues its active concert career as a recognized representative of Serbian vocal tradition.

The ensemble’s repertoire is based on vocal music, complemented by instrumental pieces that further shape and enrich its concert output.

Over nearly three decades of activity, Tradicija Viva has performed extensively in Serbia and abroad and has received numerous awards at international competitions in the field of traditional singing.

Their work is also documented on the album “Nakićaj se, Lazare” (2017), the result of long-term research and engagement with traditional music.

The concert series marking the 40th anniversary of “Od zlata jabuka” was launched by Radio Belgrade 2 on the initiative of Dragana Marinković and Svetlana Azanjac. The series opened on February 13, 2026, with a performance by the ensemble Iskon, followed on March 6 by the Bistrik Vocal Workshop led by Bilja Krstić.

On the third evening of the series, the concert by Tradicija Viva will feature Serbian songs and instrumental melodies originating from Kosovo and Metohija, the Pešter–Sjenica plateau, Crna Reka region, the areas around Svrljig, Zaplanje, Jasenica, the Negotin region, Mladenovac surroundings, Banat, Kordun, the Dalmatian hinterland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Lika.

The concert is organized by Radio Belgrade 2 in cooperation with the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade and will be broadcast live on Radio Belgrade 2. The series dedicated to the 40th anniversary of “Od zlata jabuka” is curated by Svetlana Azanjac and Dragana Marinković, who will also host the live broadcast.
