Sekvoya Releases EP “The Magic of Slavic Rituals”
Serbian band Sekvoya has released a new EP titled “The Magic of Slavic Rituals”, the second installment in a planned trilogy, available since Tuesday, March 10, 2026, via the record label Zero Nove Nove.

Blending Anatolian rock, psychedelic rock and world music, Sekvoya's second EP draws listeners into enchanted forests inhabited by Slavic witches and fairies, hills guarding ancient secrets, and villages seemingly frozen in time. It continues the journey that began with the EP “Gathering of Enchanted Herbs”.

The release features four tracks that function as four phases of a sonic pagan ritual. The concept and artistic direction were conceived by guitarist and producer Ivan Krstić, whose work merges seemingly distant influences into a coherent and recognizable musical language.

The EP’s rhythmic backbone draws inspiration from the hypnotic Afro-blues of Tinariwen and Mdou Moctar, the lysergic grooves of the collective Khruangbin, and the cinematic elegance of Karl Hector & The Malcouns and Sven Wunder, all intertwined with traditional Balkan rhythms.

Melodically, the legacy of Serbian rock icons Vlatko Stefanovski and Radomir Mihajlović Točak coexists with contemporary world music aesthetics represented by Derya Yıldırım, Altın Gün, Satellites and Bab L’ Bluz.
