Discussion on Hip-Hop Culture Through the Book “Mala Crna Muzika”

A discussion about Dragan Đorđević’s book Mala crna muzika (“Little Black Music”) will be held on Tuesday, June 2, starting at 7 PM at the SKCNS Club (Vladimira Perića Valtera 5).

The book was published by Službeni glasnik in 2025. Participants in the event will include Gordana Milosavljević Stojanović, the editor of the edition, Vladan Jeremić, illustrator of the book, and Dragan Đorđević, the author.

Mala crna muzika is dedicated to urban subcultures, youth culture and, above all, hip-hop. Through a research-based and authentic approach, the book follows the development and influence of hip-hop in contemporary society, from its origins more than fifty years ago in Brooklyn to contemporary artists and performers from the region.

Infused with the recognizable iconography of hip-hop culture, the book offers a direct, critical and energetic perspective on a phenomenon that has profoundly shaped contemporary youth culture. Its dynamic style and authentic approach make this publication a valuable contribution to the study of hip-hop culture and urban identities.
