Nenad Vasilić Releases Sixteenth Album “Non-Artificial”

Renowned Serbian double bassist and composer Nenad Vasilić has released his 16th studio album, titled “Non-Artificial”. The new release has come out via the respected German record label “Galileo Music” and delivers a strong artistic statement rooted in authenticity and musical integrity. The album, conceived as a reflection on the importance of sincere artistic creation in today’s digital world, is available on all major streaming platforms as well as on CD, while a vinyl edition is expected at a later date.

Album “Non-Artificial” features ten original compositions by Vasilić in his recognizable blend of jazz, Balkan rhythms, and elements of classical music: “Seven Riff”, “Nostalgia”, “Medna”, “Straight to the Point”, “Trilerna”, “Bass Jam” (drums and bass duo), “Fight Song”, “Someone’s Waltz”, “UFO”, and “Seven Drops”.

Each track carries its own distinct atmosphere, ranging from energetic and rhythm-driven pieces to more introspective and emotional moments.

Alongside Vasilić, the album features outstanding musicians: Vuk Vasilić on piccolo bass, Samo Hude on piano and Fender Rhodes, and Peđa Milutinović on drums.

Together, they have created an organic, living sound without reliance on artificial production elements, fully in line with the album’s title.

Nenad Vasilić says: “I am very proud of this album, above all because it presents a sound that is completely different from anything I have done so far. I felt the need to move my expression in a new direction, and I believe we have succeeded in doing exactly that. The combination of piccolo bass, double bass, Fender Rhodes, and piano opened up a new space within the band and brought a special colour and atmosphere to the entire album”.

He adds: “I am especially happy that this time I brought together musicians who are much younger than me. Their energy and freshness left a strong mark on the music and brought new dynamics to the entire creative process. On this album, two energies meet in a way – youth and experience. On one side is the modern energy of young jazz musicians, and on the other my own musical approach that I have been developing for more than 25 years. It is precisely this balance that gave the album its special character”.

Nenad Vasilić is one of the most important jazz double bassists on the contemporary music scene. During nearly 30 years of living and working in Vienna, he has built a successful career as a leading European jazz artist, while remaining one of the most beloved musicians in his native Serbia.

His music maintains a constant dialogue with audiences, with more than 50 performances per year across concert halls, festivals, and club stages throughout Europe. In addition to his artistic work, Vasilić has also dedicated part of his career to education – from 2020 to 2024 he served as a full professor at the Berlin Jazz Institute and head of the double bass department.

He performs his original compositions, inspired by tradition and contemporary expression, in various formations ranging from duo to sextet, as well as in solo performances.
