One of the most significant events dedicated to early music in this part of Europe, the festival is traditionally held in the atrium of the 14th-century Church of the Holy Saviour, an endowment of the medieval Serbian nobleman Mladen Vladojević.

On the first evening of the festival, audiences will have the opportunity to hear the ensembles Analogion and Leones, selected by the festival’s programme director Darko Karajić. The members of both ensembles come from the renowned Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

Founded in 2022, Analogion consists of German singer, lutenist and musicologist Michael Eberle, American Baroque violinist Maya Webne-Berman, and Clemens Melkner, a soloist in masses, cantatas and oratorios. Their concert will begin at 7:30 PM.

At 8:30 PM, the duo Leones will take the stage, featuring Schola Cantorum Basiliensis professors Marc Lewon and Baptiste Romain. Lewon is already familiar to the Medimus audience, having performed at the festival two years ago.

On Sunday, the second day of the festival, the programme will conclude with the Italian ensemble Mantikora from Naples. The ensemble consists of Giuseppe Frana, Simona Gatto, Enea Sorini and Alessandro De Carolis, and their programme will be dedicated to the music of the Italian Ars Nova.

Over the course of its previous editions, Medimus has welcomed artists from more than 13 countries, including internationally renowned musicians such as Edin Karamazov, the Teofilović Brothers and Slobodan Trkulja. This year’s edition will bring together musicians from Germany, France, Italy and the United States.

The accompanying programme will also feature an exhibition of photographs from previous editions of the festival, by El Gvojoso and Danko Strahinić.

Medimus is a non-commercial festival, and admission to both festival evenings is free.
