KAL at Sokoj Club, April 18

Belgrade-based band KAL will perform on April 18 at Sokoj Club in Mišarska Street, where they will present a selection of new songs from their upcoming fifth album, set to be released by the German label CPL Music.

The concert marks an important step in a new phase of the band’s work, as they move beyond their well-established sound into a period of exploring new expressions. The new material does not abandon their identity, but rather expands it through different forms and sonic approaches.

Frontman Dragan Ristić emphasizes that the greatest challenge for an artist is to step outside the comfort zone they have created, noting that the band is changing its perspective while remaining true to its core. The Belgrade performance will offer the audience an opportunity to hear new material, alongside fresh interpretations of their existing repertoire.

Over the years, KAL has developed a distinctive style based on the fusion of Romani tradition, Balkan blues, and urban rock’n’roll, often described as “Rock’n’Roma.” This approach has brought them to stages across Europe and the United States, including Joe’s Pub, as well as collaborations with bands such as Gogol Bordello.

Founded in 1996 in Valjevo, the band has grown into one of the most recognizable voices of the contemporary Romani music scene, blending traditional melodies with elements of jazz, blues, funk, and rock.

The concert starts at 9 PM. Tickets, priced at 1,000 RSD, are available at Telma Bar (Mišarska 7). The number of tickets is limited.
