Led by Ian Anderson, the band Jethro Tull will perform at Sava Centar on 11 September, with a set spanning almost six decades of their career.
One of the best-known bands in progressive rock, Jethro Tull, led by Ian Anderson, will perform at Belgrade’s Sava Centar on 11 September 2026. The band is returning to Belgrade, where they first performed back in 1975.
The concert is part of the band’s current “The Curiosity” tour, which brings together songs from almost six decades of their career, alongside material from their latest studio album, “Curious Ruminant”, released in 2025.
Jethro Tull were formed in 1967 and made their first appearance under that name the following year at London’s legendary Marquee Club. After their early days on the blues scene, they attracted wider attention with their performance at the “Sunbury Jazz and Blues” Festival.
Their debut album, “This Was”, was released in 1968, marking the beginning of a discography that would have a significant influence on the development of progressive and art rock.
At the heart of the band’s story is Ian Anderson, songwriter, flautist and vocalist whose distinctive approach to the flute became one of Jethro Tull’s defining characteristics. Although the band’s line-up has changed over the years, Anderson has remained its central creative force, guiding Jethro Tull through different musical periods and styles.
Throughout their career, Jethro Tull have combined progressive rock with elements of folk, blues and classical music, creating a distinctive sound that set them apart on the music scene in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Albums such as “Aqualung” (1971) and “Thick as a Brick” (1972) are now regarded as progressive rock classics, while during the 1970s the band became one of the leading live acts on the international scene.
The current concert programme draws on music from different periods of the band’s career, from their early songs to material from “Curious Ruminant”, their 24th studio album. Joining Anderson on the tour are David Goodier (bass), John O’Hara (keyboards), Scott Hammond (drums) and Jack Clark (guitar).
The Belgrade audience will have the opportunity to hear some of Jethro Tull’s best-known songs, including “Locomotive Breath”, “Aqualung”, “Living in the Past”, “Thick as a Brick” and “Bungle in the Jungle”, alongside more recent material.
Jethro Tull have sold tens of millions of albums worldwide and have remained active as a touring band nearly six decades after their formation.
