One of the most original contemporary Croatian acts, the Hojsak & Novosel duo, will perform at the Students’ Cultural Centre Novi Sad on April 24, 2026, at 8 PM.

It is rare for two musicians from different artistic backgrounds to meet and create a unique sound that transcends genre boundaries. This is precisely the story of Filip Novosel, a virtuoso on the traditional tambura (brač), and Tihomir Hojsak, a double bassist rooted in the classical music tradition.

Their distinctive style is shaped by a fusion of traditional and classical expression, enriched with strong influences of jazz and improvisation. At the beginning of their career, they performed under the name Bow vs. Plectrum, symbolically reflecting the musical dialogue between the bow and the plectrum.

Their debut album “Bow vs. Plectrum” (2016) quickly gained recognition from both regional audiences and critics, opening the door to the international stage, including a tour across the United States. The album features guest appearances by renowned artists such as Vlatko Stefanovski and Theodosii Spassov.

The duo has also collaborated with the string section of the Zagreb Philharmonic, establishing themselves not only as outstanding performers, but also as skilled composers and arrangers.
