The guide “Long Live That Song – Ojkača and the Song of Krajina Serbs” provides an overview of the ojkača singing tradition and the cultural heritage of the Serbs of Krajina. It was prepared as a promotional publication for the international presentation of Serbia at WOMEX 2024. The publication presents a selection of 26 songs in digital format, accompanied by texts explaining the historical, social, and poetic context of ojkača–a distinctive two-part singing style widespread across the regions of Krajina, Lika, Banija, Kordun, and Kozara. Through songs of various themes–from pastoral and love songs to historical and identity-related narratives–the guide highlights the ways in which collective memory, lived experience, and local identity are transmitted through musical tradition. In addition to the analysis of the songs and their lyrics, the publication also offers a broader overview of the contemporary world and traditional music scene in Serbia, including a registry of artists, festivals, record labels, institutions, and media that contribute to the preservation and promotion of this heritage. The guide was produced by the World Music Association of Serbia in cooperation with partner institutions and forms part of a broader initiative aimed at the international promotion of Serbian traditional and world music.
