Laughter, Anecdotes and Hits: Goblini Present “Live in KST 2” and Reissue “Roba s greškom”

Ahead of their upcoming major concert on June 13 at Luka Beograd, Serbian punk band Goblini hosted a gathering with fans and media at Zappa Bar last night. The event also featured the presentation of their double live album “Live in KST 2”, released on vinyl and CD, recorded during their concerts at KST in the autumn of 2025, as well as the vinyl reissue of “Roba s greškom”, both released by Long Play.

Speaking to the media, Goblini reflected on the early days of their career and shared anecdotes from their performances at KST. Their first major concert took place there in 1995, when, as they recalled, their entire equipment was stolen while they were giving an interview. The confusion was further amplified by the fact that they were unaware the concert would start at midnight, despite being announced for 9 PM, and upon seeing the empty venue, they feared it would be “a complete disaster”. However, the show turned out to be a pivotal moment in their career, as it was secretly recorded by their then-manager, David Vartabedijan.

Nearly three decades later, the band Goblini returned to KST to record a new release. Speaking about “Live in KST 2”, Leonid Pilipović Leo explained that the idea was for the cover artwork to visually echo the previous edition, incorporating photographs taken during both concert nights. As a result, the release also takes on the character of a photo album, thanks to young photographer Aleksa Stanković.

“The lyrics of ‘Luna’ are a combination of Jane’s Addiction’s ‘Jane Says’ and my experience of watching the TV series ‘Grlom u jagode’. Those who have seen the show will surely remember Miki Rubiroza telling Bane: ‘What you’re running from – you don’t run from it, you defeat it’. I was working on the lyrics while listening to Jane’s Addiction and watching, for the tenth time, Grlom u jagode. That was the inspiration”, Golub recalls.

The song “Luna” holds a significant place in Goblini’s discography. It was originally released on the single “Crno na belo” (2010), alongside the track “Kao da”, marking the band’s return to the scene. The song addresses the issue of drug addiction, telling the story of a girl who has been “taken over” by drugs. Known for its anthemic chorus, it has become an essential part of their live performances.

Reflecting on their comeback in 2010, Golub noted that there had initially been no plan to reunite, but the energy of the audience and the “smell of the stage” ultimately convinced the band to continue. He also highlighted a key moment when a fan’s comment made them reconsider their decision to part ways again: “How would you feel if we told you this was the last concert we would ever come to see you play?”

As for the upcoming show, the band promises one of their biggest performances to date, lasting over two hours without a break. The setlist has been carefully balanced, combining their greatest hits with fan favorites, and, as they note, certain tracks such as “Ima nas” remain an essential part of every show.

In closing, Golub confirmed that the band Goblini is actively working on new material, with new releases expected in the near future.

Among those in attendance were familiar faces from the world of music journalism, as well as numerous fellow musicians who came to support the punk band from Šabac. Fans also gave a special tone to the evening, taking the opportunity to ask questions directly, get newly purchased records signed, and chat with Golub and the band in an informal setting after the official part of the event.
