A promotional concert “Koreni duše” by Ethno Group Sopot will take place on Sunday, 26 July, starting at 8:00 pm, in the village of Vrbolazi, near the Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery, not far from Novi Pazar.
At the concert, titled “Koreni duše” (Roots of the Soul), organised by the Sopot Association, audiences will have the opportunity to hear, for the first time, original arrangements of traditional songs performed by this six-member ensemble, which blends traditional musical expression with a contemporary sound.
Combining vocals, flute, violin, classical guitar, tambura, piano and percussion, Ethno Group Sopot preserves the authentic spirit of traditional melodies while enriching them with contemporary harmonies and a fresh performance approach.
The concert programme has been conceived as a carefully crafted musical journey, bringing together both secular and selected spiritual – paraliturgical – compositions. In addition to original arrangements by ensemble members Veljko Petronijević, Lazar Vukotić and the ensemble's artistic director Stefan Stefanović, the audience will also hear arrangements by the acclaimed guitarist Miroslav Tadić and Valentina Dutina, MA.
The ensemble features Slađana Jolović (vocals), Danilo Đokić (piano), Veljko Petronijević (flute), Lazar Vukotić (violin) and Stefan Stefanović (classical guitar and tambura), with a special guest appearance by percussionist Andreja Krstić.
The combination of academic musical training, traditional heritage and original artistic creativity shapes the ensemble's distinctive musical identity, giving each instrument and performer space for individual expression.
Ethno Group Sopot brings together academically trained musicians and talented self-taught performers with the aim of preserving and presenting Serbian traditional music in a contemporary way.
The ensemble operates within the Sopot Association, striving to introduce audiences of all generations to the country's rich musical heritage through carefully crafted arrangements and live performances.
