Grocka’s “Music Garden” Opens Its 12th Season with Branko Džinović’s Tango Concert and the Exhibition “Creative Grocka by the Danube”.

Summer at the charming Rančić House in Grocka will officially begin with the opening of the twelfth edition of the Music Garden, organized by the Cultural Centre of the Grocka Municipality. On Friday, 26 June 2026, starting at 7 PM, visitors will enjoy a rich cultural programme combining music, visual arts and dance.

The evening will open with the inauguration of the 12th annual group exhibition “Creative Grocka by the Danube”, a traditional showcase of artists who create and work in Grocka and its surroundings. Hosted in the gallery space of the Rančić House – a protected cultural monument of great importance – the exhibition brings together 41 artists representing diverse generations, artistic approaches and media.

The exhibition features a broad spectrum of artistic expressions, ranging from oil paintings, graphics and watercolours to sculpture, photography, digital art, unique jewellery and design objects. Thematically, the works span abstraction, landscapes, views of the historic Danube town, and motifs inspired by the cultural heritage of Grocka and the Vinča civilization. The exhibition concept was created by Zorica Atić, art historian and senior curator, and will remain open until 20 July 2026.

The second part of the evening marks the ceremonial opening of the 12th season of the Music Garden with a concert by Branko Džinović, one of Serbia’s most distinguished accordionists and bandoneon players, presenting his programme “Tango.” On the summer stage of the Rančić House, Džinović will perform a selection of traditional and contemporary tango pieces on accordion and bandoneon, guiding audiences through the rich musical history of this beloved genre. The atmosphere will be further enhanced by a tango dance couple performing choreographies inspired by the music.

Branko Džinović holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and is an internationally acclaimed performer whose interpretations have been described by Austrian critics as “eruptive” and “inventive.” He completed his postgraduate accordion studies at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz and earned his doctorate at the University of Toronto. He has performed at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Lincoln Center in New York, collaborated with renowned ensembles and composers worldwide, and won numerous awards, including first prize at the World Accordion Championship in London.

Over the past eleven seasons, the Music Garden has become one of Grocka’s most recognizable summer cultural programmes. From June to October, it will once again host guest ensembles and performers from Serbia and the wider region.
