The seventh album by composer, arranger, and guitarist Vladan Vučković presents instrumental compositions in a free, improvisational style. The release is conceived in two segments: the first features arrangements of twelve legendary “kafana“ songs, while the second explores the authorship of compositions that are often regarded today as “traditional,” although they were written by notable composers such as Radoslav Graić, Isidor Bajić, and Dragiša Nedović. The album opens with a stripped-down rendition of “Niška banja,” followed by energetic and playfully arranged interpretations of “Iz Krajine lepa Vlajna,” “Mito bekrijo,” “Jesen stiže dunjo moja,” “Kafu mi draga ispeci,” “Osam tamburaša,” “Tiho noći,” and others. The guitar stands at the center of the sound, leading the main themes, supported by flute, violin, accordion, and rich orchestration. The bass guitar is particularly striking, moving beyond conventional folk patterns. Together with a group of renowned musicians from diverse musical backgrounds, Vučković leaves a strong artistic imprint, offering a fresh and contemporary reading of these timeless songs.
