The album “The First Ten Years of WMAS Records – Roots & World Music from Serbia” presents a selection of releases published by WMAS Records between 2007 and 2017, issued on the occasion of the label’s tenth anniversary. This compilation offers a representative overview of Serbia’s contemporary roots and world music scene, encompassing traditional, urban folk, ethno-jazz, experimental, and fusion productions. Founded in 2007 within the World Music Association of Serbia, WMAS Records is dedicated to publishing releases that promote Serbia’s musical heritage and its contemporary development. The selected recordings reflect a wide diversity of expressions – from authentic field recordings and traditional singing, through chamber and orchestral arrangements, to modern world music and jazz fusions. The album was produced as a promotional edition intended for international presentations of Serbian music, including WOMEX 2017, and stands as an important document of a decade of systematic work in preserving, producing, and internationally promoting Serbia’s music scene.
