The debut album of the ensemble “Lepi Jova“ delivers an exciting Balkan collage filled with energy, speed, and striking musical contrasts. In compositions driven by dynamism and virtuosity, the band members demonstrate outstanding instrumental skill, refined arranging taste, and remarkable ensemble cohesion. Already in the opening track, “Doing doing doing,” the group boldly reveals that sonic density and rhythmic “noise” can be structured and musical. Throughout the album, fast and explosive passages alternate with airy, playful moments (“Jovin sa-sa,” “Džungla”), as well as tender and emotionally charged pieces such as “Jovina prva ljubav,” while the track “More” evokes a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. The fusion of traditional folk instruments with modern electric ones leads listeners from the Balkan ethno sound toward contemporary fusion. Particularly noteworthy is the flute mastery of Milorad Kukić, whose virtuosity refreshes the Serbian world music scene, continuing the tradition of great masters like Bora Dugić while bringing a distinctive contemporary voice.
