About Us
Music Information Centre of Serbia (MICS) is a non-profit umbrella organization with a mission to contribute to the representation, development, research, collection, and safeguarding of musical creativity and the music scene in Serbia. MICS’s mission also includes contributing to the development of the music industry as an important part of the creative sector in Serbia.
MICS provides information about musicians, festivals, institutions, associations, producers, discographers, and publicists, with a special focus on roots music, world music, classical and contemporary music, jazz, experimental/new music, and electronic music. MICS also provides information about current projects and activities related to music. In addition to providing relevant information for everyone interested in the Serbian music scene, MICS promotes Serbian music and the potential of the Serbian music industry abroad. Special emphasis is placed on promoting Serbian performing arts as part of intangible cultural heritage to an international audience.

Goals
The goal of the Music Information Centre of Serbia (MICS) is to contribute to the representation, development, research, collection, protection, and promotion of musical creativity and the music scene in Serbia, including musical traditions within the framework of Serbia’s intangible cultural heritage. MICS also seeks to strengthen the music industry as an important part of the creative sector, with a particular focus on the national and international visibility of Serbian music and its professional potential.

Activities
To achieve its goals, MICS organizes and implements conferences, seminars, workshops, and other educational and professional events in the field of music. It engages in publishing in print and digital formats, including publications, audio, and video releases. MICS organizes concerts and festivals, maintains digital databases and archives, promotes musical creativity via its portal and the media, participates in relevant projects, and actively collaborates with institutions and organizations in Serbia and abroad.

Mission
MICS’s mission is to serve as a central, reliable, and contemporary point of information about the music life in Serbia, connecting artists, professionals, institutions, and audiences. As a member of the International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC), MICS operates in accordance with international standards and practices, contributing to knowledge exchange, preservation of musical diversity, and strengthening the international presence of both contemporary and traditional musical creativity from Serbia.
FOUNDERS
The founders of MICS are: World Music Association of Serbia (WMAS) – a representative cultural association from Jagodina, Ring Ring, Belgrade, Society for the Promotion of Traditional Culture “Izvor”, Belgrade Each of these organizations has decades of experience and a strong reputation in presenting and promoting music and Serbia’s intangible cultural heritage, both domestically and internationally, as well as in organizing various events (concerts, festivals, panels, debates, conferences, etc.) and publishing discographic releases, brochures, magazines, and other publications.

World Music Association of Serbia
The World Music Association of Serbia (WMAS) was founded in 2000 with the aim of preserving, researching, and presenting traditional and world music in a contemporary context. WMAS holds the status of a representative cultural association in the field of intangible cultural heritage and functions as a platform connecting musicians, researchers, institutions, and audiences in Serbia. The association is engaged in publishing, production, field research, education, and international promotion of Serbian world and traditional music. WMAS is a founder of MICS and an active member of international networks, including the UNESCO ICH NGO Forum and the European Folk Network, contributing to the visibility of the domestic music scene and the development of sustainable models for ICH protection.

Ring Ring Association
The “Ring Ring” Association, founded in 2000 in Belgrade, is dedicated to music and culture, developing diverse activities that combine contemporary artistic trends with the preservation of musical heritage. The association organizes major events, including the Ring Ring Festival of New Music, and world music festivals Todo Mundo and Pocket Globe, featuring concerts, workshops, lectures, and exhibitions. Ring Ring participates in international projects supported by domestic and foreign institutions, including the EU Creative Europe programs, and implements research, educational, and discographic projects. Its members are active on both the domestic and international cultural scene, fostering collaboration and artist exchange. With extensive experience, the association successfully carries out complex cultural projects and promotes Serbian music and arts nationally and internationally.

Society Izvor
The Society for the Promotion of Traditional Culture “Izvor” brings together experts in ethnology, ethnomusicology, and cultural heritage, and is dedicated to preserving and promoting Serbia’s intangible cultural heritage. It has organized international panels, traditional music workshops, festivals, and research projects, such as documenting ocarina playing in Lasovo. It is co-publisher of several traditional music editions and has participated in projects researching cultural and natural resources in Pirot and Montana (IPA 2014), as well as promoting intangible heritage at public events. “Izvor” has extensive experience in implementing complex research, discographic, and cultural projects, and collaborates with prominent institutions such as the Musicological Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
